Lion

LionI just read a book over the past month or so called “In a Pit with A Lion On A Snowy Day:  How to Survive & Thrive When Opportunity Roars”.  The book was written by Mark Batterson and is definitely a favorite.  Mark is a theologian, but writes the book in a very humorous and relative manner.

The book concentrates on a biblical “obscure” passage where Benaiah rose to become the “head security” for King David.

In the book, he makes a playful approach that King David probably flipped through a stack of resumes, and came across Benaiah’s where he killed a lion.  HIRED!

There are times in life when we will all face lions.

But when facing the lion, I think it is what you do when the fight comes that will not only build your courage and confidence, but also help to build your life’s resume.

Fighting a 500 pound beast has to be a tremendous task.  I don’t know about you, but the prospect of a lion getting loose at a circus sometimes has me shaking in my boots.  But imagining Benaiah attacking a lion, killing it, and then living to tell about had to be a tremendous feat of courage.

The life that we all really want could be hiding right now…. requiring us to find a solution to seemingly huge problems.  For today on my blog’s life lesson, I vow to face my worst failures and conquer my greatest fears.  Behind those lions, are the opportunities of lifetimes….
